What are lost hardware interrupts, and how do I fix them?
A lost interrupt occurs when the interrupt controller informs the system that an interrupt is pending. When the system completes its current task, it responds to the interrupt request. However, the interrupt is no longer valid, so the system reports a lost interrupt. The PC architecture uses IRQ7 for the primary interrupt controller and IRQ15 for the secondary interrupt controller to report these lost interrupts. To fix lost interrupts, do the following: • Make sure no device is using IRQ7 or IRQ15. If you are using pserver with a local printer on LPT1, use the Pconsole utility to set it to Polled mode. • Update to the latest drivers for the installed devices and patches for your operating system. • Move a device to the other interrupt controller to see if the lost interrupt follows the device. • Replace hardware with a known working replacement. • For a PowerEdge SP-2/XE-2 running NetWare 3.12, you must load modint/d in your autoexec.bat. • For a PowerEdge SP/XE, SP-2/XE-2, add a gene
