When I started researching wood furniture plans I kept coming across the term ‘Loft Bed Plans’. At first I thought they were plans for a bed designed to go into the loft (attic) space, I thought this was a bit strange and was perplexed by the term for quite some time thinking that perhaps it was some design whereby one side of the bed was somehow suspended from the pitch of the roof rather than being supported by the floor. I asked several people (in England) what they understood loft bed plans to be and nobody I spoke to had ever heard of loft bed plans when talking about furniture woodworking plans. I soon discovered that in England loft bed plans refer to what we would call either ‘high bed plans’ or ‘cabin bed plans’ and they provide a useful space solution in a variety of situations although even more importantly they can be great fun and an interesting bedroom design feature.
