What are Listservs and Newsgroups?

0

Both listservs and newsgroups are Internet discussion groups. A listserv is a discussion named after the original automated computer program, Listserv, which manages the flow of messages. A newsgroup is a Usenet Discussion Group. Listservs are traditionally considered more academic than newsgroups which discuss topics that include a more popular range of subjects: some academic, some banal, some bizarre. However, during recent years at UIC that focus has been shifting.
