What are levels of trustee pay in nonprofit organizations?
Of the nonprofit board members responding to NACD’s 2008 Nonprofit Governance Survey, 61.4% indicated their board does not compensate trustees. Of the nonprofit boards which do offer compensation, • 25.4% provide cash compensation (reported cash retainers ranged from $2,000 to $65,000), and • 35.5% provide reimbursement for expenses. (Nearly half of large organizations (with revenues over $100 million) offer cash compensation or reimbursement, compared with about 8% of their smaller counterparts (with revenues less than $10 million)).
