What are LCD monitors used for?
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. This is different from older and larger monitors which were CRT, or Cathode Ray Tube. CRT monitors basically projected an image on a piece of glass. LCD is a layer of light that pass through several color filter layers that turn on or off to allow particular colors to pass through. A monitor can be used in any number of situations, such as watching TV, using a computer, hooked up to a security system, etc. There are a number of advantages to using an LCD over a CRT monitor, and the first apparent one is how big and heavy a CRT is vs. how small and light the LCD can be from a relative size standpoint.
