What are lab created diamonds?
Diamonds created in a laboratory are consistent with mined diamonds. They have the same composition and structure. They are grown in an eco-friendly way and conflict-free in machines that simulate the earth’s diamond-creating processes at a much faster rate.CreatingGrown diamonds are created using diamond seeds, mixed metals and powders, and extremely high heat and pressure. The seed, which is purified carbon, grows into a diamond.HistoryThe technology has been around for about 70 years; over time it has been improved and refined. Russians developed a press in the early 1990s that can produce one gem-quality diamond per cycle.PressesThere are three types of presses that produce three different-quality diamonds. The belt and cubic presses produce diamonds used for industry. The BARS press is the Russian design which produces gem quality diamonds.Eco-FriendlyDiamonds created in a lab avoid destruction of the environment. There is no disruption of water sources or eco-systems that happens
Synthetic or lab created diamonds are quite simply, real diamonds that have been produced in a lab rather than those that occur naturally and are mined out of the ground. Both natural and man made diamonds are made of the same material – nearly pure Carbon, and the crystalline structure is the same. In nature, diamonds are formed up to 200 kilometers below the earths surface. They are created in conditions of intense heat and pressure and slowly, over millions or billions of years, they are carried to the surface by volcanic activity. In contrast, lab created diamonds are made in a laboratory by one of two methods – either by HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) or CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition). Synthetic diamonds created by either method, if well made, can be impossible to identify as lab created using the naked eye alone. They offer the beauty of a natural diamond, without the price tag and without the possibility that you have contributed to the social conflict associated with ‘
