What are key steps for implementing and extending social health protection?
The ILO’s strategy to achieve universal social health protection coverage includes the following steps: • gathering all the existing health financing mechanisms; • assessing the remaining coverage gaps and access gaps; • developing a coverage plan which effectively and efficiently fills these gaps by implementing rational linkages between the different financing mechanisms; • Organizing training and capacity building about administration, actuarial practices and governance.
