What are key Challenges / Core Issues / Improvement opportuniites in Retail Banking?
Hello Hrishikesh, Having worked for a large bank I observed that retail banking has been heavily focused on selling debt to consumers. Many of the bankers (especially in the big bank arena) are hired if they have good “sales” skills, hiring managers look for people with retail sales experience. I’d imagine room for improvement may be found in the area of educating bank clients. Many clients are unfamiliar about how, for example, interest is added to an un-secured personal loan. I would also reccomend you view the documentary “Maxed Out”, it offers very valuable insight about this subject.
