Vintage iron-on heat transfers were made from plastisol ink that was printed onto special transfer paper. The ink was printed in reverse on the paper and coated with fine adhesives to help it adhere to the t-shirt. A professional grade heat press is then required to release the iron-on transfer from the paper and adhere it to the t-shirt.
