What Are Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Treatments?
Invasive ductal carcinoma, or IDC, is a type of breast cancer that is fairly common; about 70 percent of diagnoses of breast cancer are IDC. IDC begins forming in the lining of the ducts that carry milk in the breasts, eventually spreading out into the adjoining breast tissue. This type of cancer easily metastasizes, or spreads, to other parts of the body, starting with either your lymph nodes or your blood, where it is then carried all over. Treatment of IDC depends on staging, which determines how big the tumor is, grading of the tumor, how much of the breast is affected, and how far the cancer has metastasized.
