What are industrial diamonds being used for today that most people wouldn expect?
DH: Most people wouldn’t expect diamonds to be used as a smooth, near-frictionless surface, yet that is the product of ADT. Typically, industrial diamonds have a rough surface and are used in grinding and cutting industries. Our diamond product is smooth, with one key benefit being an extremely low friction surface. This smooth, low friction surface is a direct result of the diamonds ADT makes are small – really small – on the order of 3 nanometers. By growing quantities of these diamonds together on a surface, all attached to each other, an exceptionally hard and smooth surface is created, allowing for an extremely low friction surface. To use an analogy – think about a soft walk on the beach. The sand feels soft to your feet, but actually, each grain of sand is still a rock, just a very small rock. And so many very small things make a flat, smooth, soft surface. ADT’s small diamonds provide, in the same way, a surprisingly smooth, flat, low friction surface. ITA: What are the biggest
