Are decorations any different in England than in Scotland? I’ve read that the Scots didn’t officially celebrate Christmas until the 1950s and that they still make more of New Year’s, or Hogmanay, than Christmas. A: No decorations are the same. We’ve always celebrated Christmas in Scotland just like other countries do, but you are right, Hogmanay is a far more popular ceelbration during this period than Christmas is.
