What are Individual Externships?
Individual Externships are designed to provide students with experiential, for-credit opportunities in areas of particular interest when organized, regular Externships are unavailable. For example, a student interested in Intellectual Property may want an Externship to work with attorneys at the BioInnovation Center in New Orleans. These Externships are individually tailored to a student’s particular interest. They must be tied to a substantive course and approved by both the faculty member teaching the substantive course and the Director of Externship Programs. Students may apply for one individual Externship per semester for a maximum of two credits and the Externship must be either completed in one semester or spread over two consecutive semesters.
