What are in-kind services?
In-Kind services are those activities or material donations that your Post/Department provides as it implements a program, project or event. These services are carried out without financial reimbursement from an outside donor. Let’s suppose your Post/Department received a $30,000 grant to cover costs for a medical service program geared toward helping disadvantaged and homeless Vets. The actual grant designates money for regular medical check-ups for fifty such veterans over a one-year time period. However, there will likely be other costs (non-medical in nature) that will be paid for by your Post/Department. For instance, you might have an office room in your Post/Department building dedicated solely to this veterans’ program. Therefore, you will have utility and other expenses, or perhaps, you might also need to use computer equipment, purchase supplies and so forth.
