What are IMAP and POP3?

0

IMAP and POP3 are the two standard ways of accessing email from a client program. With POP3, the mail goes from the server to the client. With IMAP the mail stays on the server. With POP3 means you always have your emails available on your computer, even when it’s not connected to the internet. Using IMAP, you can access your emails from different computers and they get centrally backed up. With IMAP you can take a copy of your emails to access them offline, but it doesn’t happen automatically. For most people, we recommend using IMAP rather than POP3, but we support both.
