What are image quality modes, and which are available in the Stylus 700?
Image quality modes dictate the size (pixel resolution) and compression ratio of the digital files created by the camera when it records pictures and movies. As resolution and image quality increase, so does the file size, which means fewer files can be stored. Image file quality is indicated as SHQ (Super High Quality), HQ (High Quality), SQ1 (Standard Quality) and SQ2 (Standard Quality with greater compression). Movie file quality is indicated as SHQ, HQ and SQ. The Stylus 700 supports the following resolutions: Still images: 3072 x 2304 (SHQ / HQ); 2560 x 1920, 2304 x 1728, and 2048 x 1536 (SQ1); and 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 1024 x 768, and 640 x 480 (SQ2). Movies: 640 x 480 (SHQ); 320 x 240 (HQ); and 160 x 120 (SQ). All movies record at a rate of 15 frames per second.
