Image quality modes dictate the size (pixel resolution) and compression ratio of the digital files created by the camera when it records images and movies. As resolution and image quality increase, so does the file size, which means fewer files can be stored. Image file quality is indicated as SHQ (Super High Quality), HQ (High Quality), SQ1 (Standard Quality) and SQ2 (Standard Quality with greater compression). Movie file quality is indicated as SHQ and HQ. The FE-230 supports the following resolutions: Still images: 3072 x 2304 (SHQ / HQ); 2048 x 1536 (SQ1); 640 x 480 (SQ2); and 1920 x 1080 (16:9). Movies: 640 x 480 at a rate of 30 frames per second (SHQ); 320 x 240 at 30 fps (HQ).
