What are identity authentication questions?
They’re questions presented during the online bank account application process that help Citibank verify that you are who you say you are. Only you, the applicant, know the answers to these questions, and they’re based on information that you wouldn’t typically carry in your wallet. That’s why they’re commonly referred to as “out of wallet questions.” If your wallet were stolen, a thief wouldn’t be able to open an account in your name based solely on the personal information it contained. The questions are derived from information in your consumer credit report. Please note that we are not using this information for any purpose other than to assist in authenticating your identity. If you prefer not to answer the Identity Authentication questions but want to continue with your application anyway, you may do so.
