In calculating overtime, only hours actually worked in a given week will be counted to determine if overtime pay is required. For example, if an employee works on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; Wednesday is a sick or vacation day; and works on Saturday, the total actual work hours is only forty, not forty-eight, and thus the employee is not eligible for overtime.
