What are host families?
These families are very carefully chosen and take care of the exchange students like their own children, attending the PTM at schools, getting involved and taking an interest in the students lives. These families give special importance to the exchange students to make their year memorable for them by organizing activities and events for the students.
Some universities offer international students the opportunity to participate in a “Host Family Program”. Through such a program, an international student is assigned to a local family with whom he or she can spend traditional American holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas and adapt to the culture abroad. Often the hosts may invite you on weekends or for dinner.
