A horse trainer is a term generally used for someone that teaches and improves a horse. They specialise in training horses in various equestrian disciplines and also behaviour. Horse trainers have many years experience and even qualifications in their specialist area of horsemanship and know how to achieve the desired results. Whether it’s a racehorse trainer conditioning a Thoroughbred for the flat or a classical dressage trainer teaching a horse the complex and demanding movements of a dressage test, a professional horse trainer will have the knowledge of what is required to teach the horse new skills or improve upon what has already been learnt. Horses are trained from the moment they are born. Their initial training begins with being handled by humans and learning what is acceptable behaviour and what isn’t.
