Ghosts are usually associated with hauntings though, as described above, they may actually be quite separate phenomena. Nevertheless, the two are inextricably linked in popular imagination so hauntings need to be described here too. The two central most significant aspect of hauntings are that • they are tied to a specific location • they produce repeated reports over time, from periods of a few days to several decades When: Haunting activity can occur at anytime, day or night, though the afternoon is probably the most popular time. People often start reporting hauntings when they move into a new house or have building work done on their current one. This is despite previous owners having reported nothing.
