What are handicap divisions and how are they calculated ?
To give everyone the best chance of winning we split the Golfers into equal groups based on handicaps. The are called Handicap Division. The handicap divisions for a monthly competition at TheGlobalOpen are determined by dividing the total number of players into equal amounts of no more than 800 hundred golfers. The handicap range for each divison varies accordingly to the handicaps of Golfers entered but an example could be.. 1000 Golfers entered into TheGlobalOpen Medal June’09. * 3 Handicap divisions created (so no more than 800 golfers per divison) * Division 1: 333 Golfers with handicap range 0 – 11 * Division 2: 333 Golfers with handicap range 12 – 19 * Division 3: 334 Golfers with handicap range 20 – 36 Each Divison has prizes for the TOP 5 Golfers! Please note that even though you play against Golfers in your group for prizes , for pure competitive interest we will still show your overall position so you can see how did against all of those golfers that entered in that month’s
