What are Habits of Mind? Do they connect to CA state standards?

0

HTHI is a project-based learning environment that asks students to investigate authentic, open-ended questions. Habits of Mind were developed by Debbie Meier, a leader in small school reform, along with her colleagues at Central Park East, to help create a common language for both students and teachers on how to think critically. Rather than focusing exclusively on the exhaustive list of CA state standards, teachers also help students develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to various academic contexts, such as solving a math problem, critiquing a short story or poem, analyzing scientific data, writing an essay, etc. The Habits of Mind help students name the thought process that most of us use when we are looking critically at a piece of work.
