What are Grommets & why are they so important?

Grommets which also include the Headguard are the little plastic tubes each of the strings go though as they pass through the racquet frame. Grommets protect the strings from being damaged by the sharp edges of the string holes & protect the racquet from any damage by the garrote like effect of the tensioned string. The “Headguard” aka “Bumperguard” protects the top of the racquet from abrasion due to the racquets head contact with the court surface. If your racquet does not have intact grommets, it can’t be strung properly.
