You poor girl, I don’t envy you at present. It is the time of year, when hay fever sufferers are flocking into the surgery for advice and treatment. At the same time, mild asthma that is possibly triggered by allergy may be worse than usual. Students in particular can find the symptoms very debilitating during examinations when they are trying to concentrate on answering their paper, yet battling with their symptoms at the same time. No one individual is the same as another, and what suits one patient may cause another side effects or simply not solve their problems. To a degree, therefore, it is a matter of trial and error, some medications being available over the counter and others only with a doctor’s prescription. Some of my patients have experienced nose bleeds with the use of nasal sprays, and this seems to happen when the lining of the nose is very inflamed and sensitive.
