What are good tools needed to start a home recording studio?

Pro Tools is a great program not that expensive (as far as home recording software goes) and user friendly I would also suggest getting in contact with Sweetwater at www.sweetwater.com, they can direct you as far as the kind of recording you want to do i.e just music or vocals or both and they have GREAT customer service! Also I just bought a JBL Matrix system from Guitar Center and was very pleased with them…all though they are a little higher but when buying something like a whole home studio you could get a great deal because they work off of commission! But I myself would recommend a Digi 002 or Digi 003 (all though the Digi 002 is just as good as the 003 and costs less) Pro Tools, a Mac computer (works best with Pro Tools) a good set of speakers, recording mics (Shure works great), 1/4 inch cables for insturments, mic cables, reverb rack, and a power rack….it’s alot of stuff that’s why I recommend getting in touch with Sweetwater or Gutiar Center, they can give you specifics!
