What are good examples of movies where the protagonist doesn follow the hero cycle?

Many movies follow the "monomyth" or Hero’s Journey story type because it is a very effective form of storytelling but many movies play around with the archetype by either adding some things or taking some things away from it.  A lot of Clint Eastwood’s films stray away from the hero’s journey story type.  A lot of older Martin Scorsese films have protagonists that are bad guys and don’t really follow the hero’s journey story type.  Many foreign films also stay away from this story type.  Two in particular that I really like are Oldboy and Let The Right One In.
