I suggest that you attend somewhere where the industry is thriving. So… that would be New York, if you want to do theatre lighting, LA if you are interested in film. The reason that the location is more important than the school is that being there puts you in close proximity to the industry and you can start to make contacts right away. Many many times, theatre and film producers will be asking around for tech help for their professionals. College students looking to get some real life experience are natural choices for those times. Your interest in the business is already established, and they can be assured that you will work hard because you want to learn from the pros. Find some working lighting designers and ask them what they reccommend.
