What are geothermal systems?
Basically they are one of the greenest heating and cooling systems available for today’s homes. They utilize the earths natural heat that is found everywhere just below the surface. These systems are considered to be an extremely economical way for both the heating and cooling of your home. In normal heat pumps the system extracts heat from the air. Geothermal systems are designed to use the consistent heat found just beneath our feet. A little bit below the earths surface, a constant temperature is being maintained. Depending upon the latitude of your home the underground temperature will range between 45 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The systems include a closed loop of pipe buried underground that cycles water or anti-freeze through the ground to either pick up or loose heat.
