What are general protection errors & how do I fix them?
A general protection fault is caused when a program makes a call to memory already in use by another program. Remove all non-needed background programs, delete program temporary files, update and or patch problem programs, run scandisk & run defrag. Disable external cache in CMOS. If your CPU utilizes external cache you can disable it temporarily in CMOS. Disable Power Management and or Screen savers. If you are experiencing general protection faults when the computer is idle attempt to disable power management and screen savers to ensure that they are not causing the issue.
