What are gauze pads?
Gauze pads are a square, absorbent gauze pad sponge dressing used on wounds to contain bleeding in surgical procedures. Important facts about gauze pads Gauze pads should never be left on the wound for more than a few hours, because the skin will start the healing process and the gauze will attached to the wound making removable extremely difficult. Gauze pads should never be used as a primary wound dressing. How do I choose the correct gauze pad size? First, access the wound dimensions and choose the correct size needed and make sure the gauze sponge pad covers the wound area. Next access the amount of blood or fluid coming for the wound to determine to correct ply thickness. The higher the Ply thickness is the more absorbent the gauze pad will be.
