What are gaming consoles trying to become in the future?
For me I think the answer to that question is something akin to the matrix where you plug in and interact in a virtual environment. With that being the epitome of a gaming console I think that you have to take a step back and judge current consoles by how well they’re trying to conform to that ideal. Imagine having a graphically and ‘physically’ perfect console with an xbox 360 controller. Small finger movements control everything that happens in that virtual world. I feel that I’d be missing out because no matter how realistic everything is I’m stuck at the end of a controller. The Wii is next gen in the fact it’s more concerned about the users interaction with the games than the graphics and physics of the games themselves. I think the Wii has taken a huge step in a direction that all consoles have been overlooking or pushing aside for a while now.
