What are Free Clinics?
Free Clinics are non-profit organizations that provide free medical services to those in the community who don’t have reasonable access to healthcare. There are approximately 48 million people in the U.S. living without adequate health insurance. In Wisconsin, five residents die each week because they don’t have of access to appropriate medical services. Free Clinics work to prevent such tragedies from occurring. The Free Clinics of Western Wisconsin have seen an unprecedented number of new patients since the beginning of the economic recession and are struggling to make ends meet while meeting the demand for care and services. The three Free Clinics that will benefit from this event are the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic, the Open Door Clinic of Chippewa Falls, and the Rice Lake Area Free Clinic.
