What are flames and what should be done about them?

A. A flame is any post used to try to incite anger in a group or an individual in that group. Sometimes this can occur between regulars as a result of anger over a misunderstanding or uncomplimentary remark. If the person making such a post is not a regular he/she may be what is called a “troll”. If the troll does not get the reaction he/she wants they usually move on and leave the group alone. Regardless of who or why it is never considered acceptable behavior and any such post should be ignored. Q. Do you zealously enforce your FAQ. A. We feel there is no reason to do so. Everyone on Usenet should adhere to the general rules of good netiquette. We as a group feel that a FAQ is only a guideline of questions and not rules.
