What are Excess Flow valves made of and how long will they last?

Most Excess Flow Valves have a limited lifetime warranty that protects against any defects in the valve. Most meter valve bodies are 4″ long by 3/4″ or 1″ inch diameter and are made of ASTM A53 galvanized steel. The external component of the appliance valve is made of brass and is approximately 1 ½ “long. The internal component is made of Celcon Acetal plastic (the same material used in high pressure service lines) that will not deteriorate. Every valve is factory tested before shipping to assure quality.
