One of the hardest things to figure out when you want to start a home-based business is figuring out what you want to do, then marketing it.
There are two strategies. You can either start a work at home business from scratch or you can work at home as an online writer.
Both require a little capital. If you want to go in the direction of online writing, you will need a computer and the ability to navigate around the web, plus the ability to write. You don’t need to be a professional writer, but you must be able to write so that other can understand you and you have to be able to proof your own work. There are many, many opportunities for online writers, too many to mention here. You can earn a monthly income that will equal as little as a new pair of shoes to as big as a car payment, depending on who you are writing for and how deligent you are.
If you want to start your own home business there are millions of ideas. You want to like what you do, so start with a hobby. Do you like cooking? Start your own cupcake business. Do you like dogs? Start pet sitting. Do you enjoy gardening? Teach people how to start their own container vegetable gardens. The list is endless. Once you decide what you want to do, then start marketing it on craigslist and through friends and become part of your local chamber of commerce and it will grow from there.
