What are Evangelical christian?
Evangelical basically means that this type of Christianity is gospel-centered and shares the gospel readily with others (in other words, evangelistic). Just like mint flavors candy,etc., evangelicalism “flavors” a variety of denominations (or branches of Christianity). So for example, there are evangelical Covenant churches, Lutheran churches, and non-denominational churches. All evangelical means in those titles is that a personal relationship with the Jesus of the Gospels is what they aim to live and promote. Oftentimes, “evangelical” is used to mean the same thing as “born-again” although that limits it just to the “conversion” side of what evangelicals do. At other times, “evangelical” is considered the same thing as politically “right wing” which takes into account the action side of evangelicalism, but doesn’t emphasize the conversion part that is the foundation of evangelicalism. <
