What are ESS Directors?
ESS teams are normally set up first with people who have gone through training to help in local emergencies. As people gather more training, and as it becomes apparent that some people have the dedication to take on the Directors role, such people can be considered candidates for the Directors Position. This is brought to the attention of the Regional Coordinator, and if these people are qualified to take the training for ESS Directors, these people go to the Justice Institute (JI) in New Westminster to the ESS Academy and are trained and qualified for the Directors Position. These Directors then work with the local team, the CORD ESS team, and thus within the BC Emergency Response Management System (BCERMS), utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS) to ensure all local efforts are coordinated with the Province as a whole.
