What are EPCRA and SARA Title III?
The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) is also called SARA (Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) Title III. It establishes requirements for federal, state and local governments and industry regarding emergency planning, emergency release notification, community right-to-know reporting requirements, and the toxic chemical release inventory. In North Carolina, the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, Emergency Management Division, administers this program.
