What are Engineered Labor Standards?
Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) are developed from time studies which determine the average time it takes to complete each element of a given type of work. This standard is described in Standard Allowed Minutes (SAMs) and represents the amount of time an associate working at an steady pace and using the correct methods should take to complete the activity. This standard value vs. the actual time it takes is used to calculate the performance of an individual. This performance can be then rolled up into Operation, Department and Facility performances.
