What are emission limits ?
Emission limits tell you how much solvent you are allowed to emit and will depend on the quantity you produce. The larger this is, the more you will be allowed to emit. The emission limits in the Directive tell you how to calculate the quantity of solvent you can emit. In the Directive emission limits can be somewhat confusing. They not only vary from one industry to another and by size of operation, but they can also vary by which solvents you use and how you choose to reduce emissions. Not only do the emission limits vary, but there are several different types of emission limits used. For example, your emission limit may take the form of a maximum allowed concentration of solvent. (mg/m3) or it could be in weight of solvent emitted per pair of shoes produced.
