What are embedded systems used for?
Well, it depends on the application to which you are referring, but in general an embedded system is just a computer system designed to carry out a single, dedicated function, embedded within a larger system. These embedded systems are often programmable to allow for changes or upgrades in efficiency or cost. Instead of having the entire system carry out every single command and function, there are embedded systems designed specifically to handle certain tasks to increase efficiency and decrease power consumption or other negative side-effects.
