Both digital systems feature On-Screen Programme Guides. This is a way of finding out what is on TV without using a magazine. The information can be called up on the TV screen, and you can control the display using the remote control. ONdigital’s EPG allows you to find out the current programme and the programme on next, including start times. SkyDigital’s system allows you to find out approximately the next 8 hours of programmes on each channel, including start times. Both these systems let you look at this information will still watching the current channel, so you can look to see what is on the other channels without turning over! SkyDigital also has a more advanced EPG called SkyGuide, which uses the whole screen to show what is on several channels at once. This contains listings for the next 48 hours on all channels, and also allows you to call up descriptions of each programme, like those you would find in the Radio Times. In the SkyGuide, channels are divided up into categories
