Criminal gangs can wreck a neighborhood by selling drugs or performing other illegal activity in the community. Gangs can also break up families by recruiting members at early ages. Although law enforcement sometimes take gangs head on as crimes occur, they can also deter gang activity by getting involved with youth early, forming neighborhood watches or establishing special task forces.
