What are effective exercises to work out chest muscles?
I. Rep Style: I use two “styles” of repetitions, which I feel work in conjunction with each other in terms of building and developing my chest muscles to their maximum capacity. Based on the time of year, I cycle these repetitions usually using a system where I do two workouts in a row with one style, and followed by one with the other style. A. Power Reps: Although I aim to continually feel the muscle work, this style pushes it to the max, just before you reach the point to where you are pushing as hard as you can with raw power and no regard to feeling any sort of contraction in the working muscle. The goal is to go as heavy as you can, almost with plyometric-style force, as if you were a lineman pushing someone with all of your might. When performing these, I come nowhere close to lockout and forsake any type of hard contraction at the end of a rep. I use this style of repetition strictly for mass building. B.
