What are eCommerce, eBusiness, and Business-to-business (B2B)?
ECommerce has been defined many different ways and the term has been used to describe a wide variety of activities on the web. In its broadest form, eCommerce is the activity of performing a business transaction over the Internet. Generally, consumers exchange monetary sums, usually via credit cards, for goods or services provided by a company through its web site. EBusiness includes eCommerce, but is a superset of activities. In addition to executing a sale on the Internet, eBusiness includes everything that the company and its web site do to lead up to the sale and how they follow up on delivery and support of their product or service. In contrast to the consumer-oriented eCommerce, B2B involves business to business transactions or vertical market sales. B2B allows companies to do business with their supply chain through the web.
