What are “DSH” and “TestDaF” where can I take them?
TOP Before you can embark on your studies at a German institution of higher education in a course with German as the medium of instruction you have to take the German language proficiency test “DSH” (“Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber”) or the “TestDaF” (“Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache für ausländische Studienbewerber”) . The “DSH” can only taken in Germany while the “TestDaF” can also be taken abroad. International Degree Courses and some postgraduate courses taught in English are an exception to this rule. You can be exempted from the DSH if you: · hold a higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”) from a recognised school (in Germany or abroad) at which German was the language of instruction · hold the Goethe Institute’s minor or major German Language Certificate (“Kleines/Großes Sprachdiplom”) or the Central Advanced Language Test (“Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung”) · hold the German Language Certificate, Level II, of the German Standing
