What are doctor and sealing blades?

0

Each PINNACLE chambered system has two blades in contact with the anilox. Depending on the rotation of your roll (cw or ccw) the function of the blades can be switched and are interchangeable. 1. The doctor/metering blade is 1 wide, 0.006-0.010 thick, steel or plastic that scrapes the surface of the anilox as it leaves the chamber allowing only the contents of the cells to be transferred to the plate. 2. The sealing blade is a 1-1/8 wide, 0.014 flexible plastic blade that contains the ink in the chamber while allowing the unused ink to re-enter the chamber without excessive back doctoring.
