WHAT ARE DOCENTS?

0

Docents are trained volunteers who greet visitors to Heritage Junction, sharing their knowledge of the Santa Clarita Valleys history and lore with tours of our museum and buildings under restoration. Docents often give presentations to groups of school children, Scouts and other organizations in the community. Docents are people of all ages and backgrounds who share certain traits: They are curious about our area history; they like museums; and they enjoy working with children and adults. If you fit this description, please consider becoming a museum docent and if you know someone with these interests, let them know about the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Societys Docent Program. HOW WILL I LEARN WHAT I NEED TO KNOW? Docent training is held on an as-needed basis. It involves several Saturdays touring the major historic sites of our valley, and listening to presentations on pertinent historical topics. After the training, your are asked to volunteer at least one weekend afternoon each
